Type: Cultural Religious“Virgin’s Seed” is a religious devotion mural created by the artist Paul Botello in 1991.

It stands at the corner of Hammel and Hazard avenue. in Boyle Heights, right across

to the very church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church which Paul Botello attend during

his youth. It’s a contemporary work of art that is a clear tribute to the Lady of

Guadalupe. Two figures stand out in the piece, one which is blue and the other of

normal skin color, The blue figure represents the future and environment of the

Chicano community, through the eyes of the artist with the color of skies. The

responsibility of the community to cherish and to protect our future. It is symbolic

way of the artist an envisioned way to sustain our future.
